DAY 91 - Wet area tiles are finished!

Wednesday 14th November 2012

Due to lack of time and a little lack of planning, we never met with the tile colour consultant.  Instead we visited the showroom many times to um and ah about various tile choices... it would have been quicker to meet with the consultant :)

Eventually we came to agreement and this is what we ended up with -

Bathroom, WC & Ensuite

Wall tiles - Coorong Mist
Floor tiles - Studio Brown
Feature - Aqua Stone Brenta (100 x 15 strips)

Laundry & Powder room

Floor tiles - Memento Sand (the same tile will be laid in our main floor area downstairs)
Wall tiles - Mocha subway tiles

And this is what the finished tiling looks like!  It's still a bit grubby as it's just been wiped over with a sponge.

Ensuite - there's a small piece of feature tile on the top left missing as they ran out.
A long trip back for the tilers for 5cm of tiles!

The mirrors overhang the backing board so it will be in line with the top row of tiles.

Laundry - the wall tile colour is not quite accurate because of the camera flash

We're really pleased with the care the tilers have taken.  It's not 100% how we planned, but then we're not tilers so weren't aware of how and where they have to cut tiles.  They were great to work with and gave options to minimise cuts and have the best flow of the tiles through the rooms.

And they've been good with lining up the grout lines.  I particularly like the downstairs tiles as being rectified porcelain they lay them much closer together so the grout line is very thin.

I was able to speak with them about their rates and we're planning to use them to lay our main floor tiles.

Now the tilers are finished the pre-paint can occur (plasterers final touch ups) and then the painters will start.

Another day's work and 107 days to go... looking forward to double digits!
