DAY 55 - More wrapping and pink & orange batts

Today, Tuesday 9th October the rest of the house was wrapped and the insulation was put in.  All the walls were done and the roof areas which can't be accessed once the plaster goes on - that's in the family & rumpus rooms and the alfresco area.  The upper floor wall batts are standard but we had included to install batts in the lower floor external walls.  We're hoping this will keep us cooler and warmer.  This weeks has had some really hot days and it's only Autumn!

It seems that when they say 'external walls' are insulated, they are quite literal with that.  I guess the gap can be considered 'internal' since a roof adjoins it.  But what happens with all the hot air trapped in the roof area?  Surely it will make these rooms hotter?

I guess there's nothing to hold the insultation in place ie. sisilation, but they could have put some strapping like they did in the roof areas.  Seems a bit cheap and cheeky to us.

Bags of pink batts have been put up into the upper roof and garage roof that can be laid out once the plaster is in (they can get up through the manholes).

The brickies have been by and done some more of the lower bricks out the back, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of bricks left.

143 days and counting...
