It turns out that the bricks delivered had been drawn from a different batch and so the colour was slightly lighter, and the face of the brick was also a bit smoother than the batch the house has been bricked in so far. Some of the lighter bricks had been used on the garage wall and the brickies noticed the difference and work stopped.
New bricks were ordered from the same batch as the first lot, but once again these were from the lighter batch. Another delivery came but again these were lighter. Another delivery is due tomorrow and then the bricks can be finished, as long as they're the right ones! I'm not sure if they take down the whole rows with the incorrect bricks or just take out individual bricks and replace them. We've told them we're happy to keep any of the bricks (right and wrong) as we can use them later for... we have some ideas :)
It's been 14 days since the brickies were on site, and 10 days since the scaffold went up. I believe the brick company will be getting a bill for the extra days the scaffold has been onsite!
After the bricks, the cladding, eaves & external painting of the cladding & eaves can be finished. Then the scaffold will come down and our house will nolonger look like it's being taken over by giant braces!
Can you notice which bricks are lighters? It's easier to tell onsite.
Fortunately the work inside is going ahead full steam. Today our roof is zebra striped! And my smudge in the plaster has been fixed up :)
These would be fun to try :) |

This afternoon we went back to the lighting store and made our final choices for lights and fans. That's a post for another day when I can google pics of them...
Next week the bricks, cladding, eaves & external painting will be done. Our stairs are due next Wednesday and later next week the vanities and kitchen will arrive! How exciting!!!
134 days left but surely we'll be in for Christmas :)
